Trends in Healthcare AV

Healthcare AV Magazine

One of the new overall trends that we are seeing in the world of AV installations is a larger need for Healthcare audio visual. We’re lucky to be in Charlottesville, VA where two of the nation’s best hospitals (UVA and Martha Jefferson) are located so it makes sense here but as it turns out this same trend is being seen all over the place. We recently worked with the UVA Heart Center on video connectivity for their imaging devices which led us to pay more attention when the latest issue of Healthcare AV magazine arrived this month.  Here are a few of the trends that they mentioned that we’re sure to see more of in the very near future:

  • Outdated hospital auditoriums are being re-modeled to become high-tech, energy efficient presentation centers
  • ‘Gadget growth’- new software and internet-connected devices like the iPad are making their way into the healthcare AV world
  • New regulations are changing the face of mass notification systems
  • Digital signage investments are being made to help notify people in emergency situations
  • More sound masking is being done so patients can get some sleep and to help with privacy issues when sharing medical information verbally
  • Patient observation via video is playing a larger role in medical schools
  • Touchscreens are being installed to make things faster and more compact
  • Higher-resolution video displays are being installed in operating rooms

Marshall University Marathon

We would like to thank our friends at Marshall University in West Virginia for having us back again his Summer to upgrade more of their classroom technology before the school year started again! We partnered with Mediatech, Dell and Extron to provide them with dual 70″ monitors and an integrated lectern with touch screen control.  To make it a little more exciting, we completed 10 classrooms in just 4 days!

Thank You Boar’s Head!

As the 4th of July approaches we’re still busy doing audio visual installation projects all over Charlottesville!

This week, we would like to thank The Boar’s Head for choosing us to install new sound systems for the Spa, Old Mill Room Restaurant, the Bistro, and the reception area.  We partnered with Bose Professional on the equipment and DMX to provide a music subscription that is perfect for each space.  The next time you’re there, be sure to take a listen!

In addition to this project, we also spend a lot of time at The Boar’s Head each day as we are the preferred audio visual and lighting provider for conferences and events that take place on the property.

School’s Out Sound Systems

School is officially out which means a lot of our Summer projects involve upgrades to classroom and school technology.  Our featured project this week is taking place at The University of Virginia Darden School of Business.  We have partnered with Bose Professional and QSC Audio to upgrade the sound system in PepsiCo Forum and the Abbot Lounge.

Darden School of Business Classroom Technology


We hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend with your family & friends! We were busy with events and it looks like April and May were just the start.  We are working on a lot of great projects this Summer and plan to share them with you here.

First, we are very excited to be working with the UVA Darden School of Business here in Charlottesville for the third Summer in a row to upgrade their classroom technology. We have partnered with Dell, Mediatech and Crestron again this year to provide Darden with the state-of-the Art facilities that they need to provide the latest in technology to their students.
